Turf Installation
Locally-sourced fresh sod, properly graded and prepped. We don't lay turf on a base we wouldn't sleep on.
Half the failed lawns in San Diego died of bad subgrade. Compacted clay, no soil amendment, irrigation laid before the grade was right. The sod looked great for six weeks and then thinned out from the inside.
We do turf the slow way: remove the old material, regrade to drainage, amend the soil, install or repair the irrigation, then lay fresh sod the same day it comes off the farm truck.
Real sod
We work with regional sod farms — most of our orders are tall fescue blends or hybrid bermuda depending on sun. Sod arrives day-of and is on the ground within hours.
Artificial turf
We install artificial when it's the right call — high-shade areas where real grass won't take, dog runs, kids' play zones, rooftop decks. We use mid-grade and high-grade products only; cheap turf looks plastic and gets hot.
Common Questions
Turf Installation — FAQ
Real or artificial?
Depends on use. Family lawn = real. Dog run = artificial. Front yard for show = either; depends on water budget and how much you'll mow.
How soon can we walk on it?
Real sod: 3 weeks for full root, but light foot traffic at one week. Artificial: same day.
